ZOOM MEETING

Dear members and supporters,

Find out about the $60 million in grant money Benicia and surrounding areas will be eligible for.

Valero was fined $82 million in late 2024 for pollution violations that lasted for years.  The Bay Area Air District’s new Community Benefits Penalty Fund sets aside money from this penalty for the communities impacted by the pollution. The Local Community Benefits Fund will give up to $60 million to Benicia and the surrounding area.  This grant money can go to nonprofits, cities, schools and a variety of other entities.

Our two speakers will be Emi Wang, a Community Investment Officer from the Air District, and Mario Giuliani, Benicia’s city manager.

Learn about the grant process, what the goals are, and who and what could be funded. What does the city of Benicia stand to gain and what are the plans to apply. Grant money is frequently earmarked for low-income communities and Benicia is not eligible. This is one of the biggest grant opportunities Benicia has ever had.

Members will be sent an email with the zoom link before the meeting.  If you are not a member please email progressivedemocratsofbenicia@gmail.com for the link.
