MEMBER MEETING
TUESDAY AUGUST 11, 2026 7:00 PM

VIA ZOOM

Dear members and supporters,

Benicia has a critical election in November.  At the Progressive Democrats of Benicia’s August meeting, we will be hearing from candidates for city council, Kari Birdseye and Terry Scott, candidates for the school board, and about Measures X, Y and Z.  PDB will be making endorsements and possible campaign contributions.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions.

Mayor Young will be speaking about three measures X, Y and Z on the November ballot to address the city’s plan to replace revenue lost from the Valero closure.  Valero’s closure removes roughly $7.7 million a year from Benicia’s $65 million general fund, the money behind police, fire, streets, and parks. Two new developments are in the future for Benicia, with over 5,000 new homes planned. Measures X, Y and Z are the replacement plan, not a fifth new tax: new development will pay a share of what the refinery used to carry. These new measures will cost most Benicians nothing and will reduce or eliminate taxes on the smallest businesses.

If you are a member you will be sent the zoom link a couple of days before the meeting.  If you are not a member you
will need to email progressivedemocratsofbenicia@gmail.com
