ZOOM MEETING

Dear members and supporters—
Happy New Year!!
Our newly elected State Senator Christopher Cabaldon will be the speaker at our next meeting. Come with your questions as he discusses his priorities and other issues of concern.
The Progressive Democrats of Benicia was one of the first Democratic clubs to endorse Cabaldon for state Senator and we are thrilled that we were part of the grassroots effort that elected him.
We will also be holding elections for officers. Kathy Kerridge is running for Chair, Chris Kerz for Treasurer, Christina Gilpin-Hayes for Secretary, and Craig Snider for Vice-Chair. If you are interested in running for any of these offices please let us know and we will make sure you are on the ballot.
A few of our members have asked about a possible name change. We will discuss and vote on that at our February 11 meeting. We will also vote on other modifications to our bylaws.
Renew Your Membership
Don’t forget that our membership dues are now due. Membership dues are $30 a year (please contact me if this is a hardship) You can renew your membership, or submit an application to become a new member, at this link: https://progressivedemocratsofbenicia.org/pay-dues-donate/.
Please be sure you have paid your dues to be eligible to vote in the elections. The bylaws state “New Members shall be entitled to vote on all Club matters sixty (60) days after payment of dues. Existing members, upon payment of membership renewal dues, shall be eligible immediately to vote on all Club matters.” We also allow old members to vote upon payment of dues.
January 20 is MLK Day (even though there’s an inauguration planned).
BENICIA COMMUNITY
MLK DAY CELEBRATION
Monday, January 20, 2025
7 pm • 1305 West 2nd St., Community Congregational UCC
Honoring Dr. King in story, recollection, song, and commitment. All are welcome. “In these turbulent days, when fear and doubt are mounting high, give us broad visions, penetrating eyes and power of endurance.”
All who attend will be encouraged to reflect, sing together, and share their particular reasons for honoring Dr. King “in these turbulent days.” In this way we will sustain one another with the “power of endurance.”
A pick-up choir will get together at 6 p.m. to rehearse “The Storm Is Passing Over.”
The NAACP Vallejo will also have a march and program on January 20. Please email [email protected] for more information.
SAVE THE DATE for the Solano County Democrats Fundraiser on March 8 at 6pm.
The Solano County Democratic Central Committee raises money to be used on campaigns for Democratic candidates throughout Solano County. Please mark your calendar for this event. It is not limited to Central Committee members, but is for all Solano County Democrats. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to meet other Solano County Democrats and elected officials. This is the major fundraiser for the year.
Please invite your friends.
